Nearee: one place for local events in Slovakia and Czechia

Nearee gathers events from many ticketing and listing sites into one clear, searchable feed, so people spend less time hunting and more time going out.

The problem

Event listings are scattered across ticketing portals, venue pages and social posts. Each one has its own layout, its own filters and its own gaps, so finding something for tonight can mean opening five tabs.

What Nearee does

  • Collects events from 7+ sources, including GoOut, Ticketportal, Kudy z nudy, Ticketmaster CZ, kamdomesta.sk and BANM.
  • Shows them on a map and in a list, with filters for city, date and category.
  • Lets people save favourites and browse a Discover section of hidden gems.
  • Works as a guest preview first; a free account unlocks saving and reminders.
  • Sends web push reminders: a daily midday suggestion and alerts for saved events.

One rule for data quality

The collector follows a simple rule: if the city of an event is unknown, the event is skipped. No data is better than wrong data. A smaller feed that is always right earns more trust than a bigger one that sends people to the wrong town.

Built for three languages

The interface runs in English, Slovak and Czech. All interface text lives in the database, so wording can be corrected or improved without publishing a new app version.

Under the hood

  • Website and API: PHP and MySQL on Hostinger.
  • Sign-in: Supabase authentication.
  • Collector: a Python scraper that runs on a schedule through GitHub Actions.
  • Mobile app: Expo (React Native).
  • Reminders: Supabase Edge Functions plus a scheduled job that runs every 15 minutes.

Privacy and trust

Nearee has a privacy policy, legal pages and account deletion, because people should be able to leave as easily as they join.

What is next

Ongoing work: more sources, more cities and tighter data quality.
